You substituted a Sony RMT-D173A remote, which can control a DVD player and a TV, but not a VCR. It does not have the necessary functions of input selection (coax, line 1 & line 2), recording speed (SP & EP), and RECORD. It will not even turn the VCR on and off. I deduced that the “V” after the dash in the part number means VCR and the “D” after the dash means DVD. Please advise how to return the item.
